Got lube?

A research team at Indiana University is recruiting adult women (18
and older) to participate in what is, to their knowledge, the first ever
systematic study of lubricant use among women. Something that I've realized in the past year of researching lubricants, is that there is so little solid research on lubricants.

The study will take place entirely online. You'll receive lube samples (water-based and silicone), use them with a partner or alone, and respond to questionnaires about your experiences. Last night I was reviewing an "erotic" film - well, actually, porn. It came recommended to us, and I was watching to see if we wanted to include it on the Zip Zap Toys site (yes, I know, tough job). During one climactic scene, the "lead" female was laying down and had a man on either side of her ejaculating on her surgery-enhanced breasts, while another woman was at her crotch. The framing of the shoot was interesting as she was surrounded by people presumably there for her pleasure. But the staged aspect led me to question how much "performance" is an aspect of sexuality for women...wanting to appear sexy and aroused and perfect in how she's framed...yet detached from her own experience of pleasure and connection. Do we learn that it's more important to look good than to feel good?

We won't be selling this DVD through Zip Zap. But really, with lines like "Whores are supposed to be lazy," how can you go wrong?? ;)

I had an amazing tea meeting with two local sexologists - Nick and Sayaka - the other day. A two-hour tea to catch up became a seven-hour intensive and emotional discussion about sex, relationships, spirituality, and how best to assist our clients. Through 5 pots of tea we realized again and again that the more we learn about these topics, the more there is to know. We don't have all the answers, we just have lots and lots of questions to bring new levels of awareness and appreciation to our sexual being.

I had a fun New Year's Eve up in Orange County with my sister and a couple friends. There's just something about wearing costumes -- you can't NOT have fun when dressed in a pink wig and boa! I really do love the sense that I can always play a character and be whoever I want to be in that moment :)
